Good nutrition promotes the healing process

WESTFIELD – Westfield Memorial Hospital will observe National Nutrition Month through March at the hospital’s Wound Clinic.

Good nutrition is essential to promote healing. During the healing process, the body needs increased amounts of calories, protein, Vitamins A and C and the mineral, zinc. There are plenty of ‘power foods’ that can also help a person during the healing process.

Westfield Memorial Hospital’s Wound Clinic is offering information on food groups and other ways to promote wound care for successful healing. There will be current information available to educate patients on the importance of good nutrition, with a focus on healing wounds. As always, the best diet is one that is a low fat, low sodium, high protein diet and regular exercise, which have been shown to enhance healing

The Westfield Wound Clinic is open each Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
