CAC hosts city treasurer

City Treasurer Mark Woods recently addressed the Citizens’ Advisory Committee to give insight on the city’s finances.

Woods has been the city treasurer for 18 years and is responsible for dealing with public comments and questions, in addition to being the city tax collector. Woods said last year the city’s finances balanced out to the penny.

CAC members had questions about the current audit the city is conducting. The audit started in Octo-ber, according to Woods. Three different auditors work with the city and work on a daily rotation schedule. Woods said the audit so far seems to be OK.

The CAC also discussed truck traffic on Talcott Street, recycling and gar-bage pickup. Councilwo-man-at-large Stephanie Kiyak suggested writing letters to department heads addressing the concerns with recycling and garbage pickup. Members suggested a different route be taken for trucks along Millennium Parkway which will connect Route 60 to the city’s industrial area via Talcott Street.
