SUNY Fredonia Delta Chi Fraternity hosts third annual Spring Egg Hunt

The Delta Chi Fraternity at SUNY Fredonia is presenting its third annual Spring Egg Hunt for the children and families of the Fredonia/Dunkirk and surrounding communities on the president’s lawn. The Spring Egg Hunt will be on Saturday, April 13, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. (with the egg hunt itself to begin promptly at 2 p.m.) at 194 Central Ave. in Fredonia. Dr. Virginia Horvath, SUNY Fredonia president, is very excited about this event.

“The men of Delta Chi are enthusiastic, even passionate, about continuing this tradition at SUNY Fredonia,” Dr. Horvath said. “They have carefully planned a fun, age-appropriate event that brings together community members and students, and I look forward to welcoming families to this celebration of spring.”

The Spring Egg Hunt will be a fun and entertaining event for the community. There will be two areas designed for the egg hunt. There will be an area for children ages 2 to 5 and the other area for children ages 6 to 12. This will allow both age groups to have a fair chance at collecting eggs.

The committee is presenting first, second and third place prizes for the two groups. These prizes are being donated by Walmart, Zonies, Tops, and crafts by Michelle Twichell and Barbara Sam. The winning eggs will have a special note, and all eggs will have small treats.

The crafts will take place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Twichell and Sam are known for organizing FestivalsFredonia Santa’s Workshop. For this event, they have created four springtime crafts. The children and their families will be able to meet special guests Mr. Bunny, Mr. Carrot and Mr. Mad Hatter. They will assist the committee with the event and will be available for photographs with the children.

The Delta Chi Fraternity has been at SUNY Fredonia for the last 20 years. The fraternity wants to increase their exposure to the surrounding community through volunteerism. Thanks are extended to Dr. Horvath and the sponsors for their generous donations, as well as Twichell, Sam, and the SUNY Fredonia administration. Parking will be available on Central Avenue during the event.
