SUNY Fredonia to hold annual Out of the Darkness Walk Saturday

On Saturday, SUNY Fredonia will be holding their 10th annual “Out of the Darkness Walk” to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. An excerpt from the AFSP website explains their mission:

“By walking in the ‘Out of the Darkness Community Walks’ to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), you will be walking with thousands of people nationwide to raise money for AFSP’s vital research and education programs to prevent suicide and save lives, increase national awareness about depression and suicide, advocate for mental health issues, and assist survivors of suicide loss.”

Pre-registration for the walk can be done online through and clicking “Campus Walks” to find the Fredonia event. Walk-up registration will begin at noon on Saturday at the SUNY Fredonia campus clock tower, located on Symphony Circle on the SUNY Fredonia campus.

The walk will begin at 1 p.m. Early arrival is encouraged, as university a cappella groups will be performing, along with the availability of T-shirts, bracelets, and raffle tickets for purchase. All proceeds will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
