Living Below the Line: Poverty in our neighborhoods panel presentation
The Social Action Ministry on Economic Justice from the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua will hold a panel presentation on the state of poverty in our community. Americans are struggling every day to make it above The Line (of poverty). Come and hear the stories of people who are already or are at risk of falling below The Line.
This presentation will be held Thursday from 7-8:45 p.m. at the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator, 214 Central Ave. in Dunkirk. Included on the panel will be representatives of Chautauqua Opportunities Inc., the Department of Social Services, and Chautauqua County Rural Ministry. Discussion will follow.
This is the second event in a 2-part series on poverty and the working poor in Chautauqua County. The film, “The Line” was shown Feb. 22 to inform and inspire participants regarding actions that can be taken to make a difference in our community.
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua is a liberal religious community devoted to promoting individual spiritual development, working toward peace, liberty, and justice in our immediate and global communities, and providing companionship on life’s sacred journey. Worship services are held each Sunday at 11 a.m. in the Grange Hall, 58 W. Main Street Fredonia.
