City beach draws gulls by thousands

Thousands of seagulls flocked to Wright Park Beach and all along Main Street Beach Friday evening. Seagulls, mostly common or mew gulls, cawed, flew and waded in the lake. Several cars drove slowly by and parked along the beach to watch as the sun set and seagulls crowded together in the sand. Two residents walking their dogs said it is not uncommon to see a lot of seagulls along Wright Park Beach but less common to see so many on Main Street Beach. “Spring is in the air – it must be mating season,” one resident said.
