Lisa Marie Ready

Lisa Marie (Moreland) Ready, age 42, of Lake Shore Drive East, Dunkirk, NY, died Tuesday (April 2, 2013) at Brooks Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Dunkirk on Oct. 5, 1970, the daughter of Mary Boyd of Dunkirk, who survives, and the late Oliver (Bay) Moreland, who died in 1987.

Lisa was a 1988 graduate of Dunkirk High School. After enlisting in the U.S. Army, she served her country for six years from 1989-1995 and was a Gulf War veteran.

She was employed as a teacher’s assistant at the North County BOCES for many years. She completed her bachelor’s degree in 2009 and was a Phi Beta Kappa.

Lisa loved life and people. She was a peacemaker and enjoyed spending time with her special friends. She had a bond with her mother that no one could break and loved her Mom dearly. In addition to her own family, she also had a hand in the guidance and raising of her nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. So rest in peace my angel.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her dear friend who shared her life for the past 5 1/2 years, Shane Ferguson; her sons, Ramal Ready, age 17; Sabien Smith, age 12; and Shane Ferguson Jr., age 4; her brothers, Kevin, Jerome and Shaunn Boyd; her sisters, Myra Moreland and Jaquetta Sikes; stepbrother Darren Moreland; stepsisters, Rachel, Cindy, Stacy, Charmaine and Toni Moreland; her aunts and uncles especially Henry Boyd; spe-cial friends Venesia Butts, Marisol, Joe Pagan; past co-worker and friend Stephen Keefe; many nieces and nephews especially her nieces – Mary Butts, Quayla Moreland, Asia Leonard and Kiki Hall, whom she loved enormously; a friend of the family, Richard Sikes Jr., who was involved with being there and doing whatever he could when needed; and all the children she knew and loved at BOCES.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tremayne Moreland, who died in 1992; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. A Memorial Service will be held at a date and time to be announced. There will be no prior visitation. Arrangements are by the Newman Funeral Home Inc.
