Pinehurst ParTee Girls

The Pinehurst ParTee Girls will hold their organizational meeting on Tuesday, April 16 at 6 p.m. at the Pinehurst Golf Course. All returning teams and anyone wishing to join the league should attend.

Wednesday Evening Men’s League

The Wednesday Evening Men’s League will meet on April 17, at 7 p.m. at the Pinehurst Golf Course. All returning and new teams are asked to be there.

Rule changes and other important issues will be discussed and members are invited to arrive at 5 p.m. to participate in a 9-hole fun match if possible.

WNY PGA Announces Pee Wee Tour

The Western New York PGA Section is excited to announce that registration for the Pee Wee Tour has begun.

The Pee Wee Tour is for kids ages 5-9 who are just learning the game of golf. The tour is designed to be a fun and non-competitive way to introduce junior golfers to the game of golf. The tour consists of seminars and non-competitive golf tournaments, where the players play five holes from modified tees and have their parents/grandparents caddie for them. Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament

The Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament is set for Sept. 14 at Shorewood Country Club.

There will be a dinner to follow at the Kosciuszko Club.

Wednesday Morning Purple Posse League

The Purple Posse will start the season on Wednesday, May 8 at the Vineyards Golf Course. League members will meet at 9:30 a.m. and tee off at 10.

New members are always welcome. The League plays golf with a twist, as each week a different game is played.

More information on the league will be published in the OBSERVER at a later date.

Monday Night

Ladies League

The Monday Night Ladies League at the Vineyards Golf Course will begin the 2013 season on May 6.

The league will tee off at 5 p.m.

Openings for teams and subs are still available. The league has a handicap system, so all skill levels are welcome.

Green Meadows Golf Course Tournament

A special golf tournament will be held to honor the late Mary Ellen Benamati on Sunday, July 28 at Green Meadows Golf Course in North East, Pa.

All proceeds from the golf tournament will benefit the Mary Ellen Benamati Memorial Scholarship Fund. More information will be made available in May. Mary Ellen was a teacher at Westfield Academy and Central School for more than 30 years.

NCSA Registration

The Northern Chautauqua Soccer Association is still accepting late registrations for the summer recreation season. Visit for Coordinator information and the registration form.

Contact the Division Coordinator during the day to check availability, as some space is limited. Then submit two registration forms to P.O. Box 331, Fredonia, N.Y., 14063 A $10 late fee should be added to the registration costs. Registrants should also send a copy of the player’s birth certificate, if this is their first year playing.


Senior Tour

The 2013 edition of the McDonald’s Chautauqua County “Senior Tour,” will open its season on Monday, April 15 with its 10th annual registration brunch.

The brunch will be held at the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club at 11 a.m. A registration fee of $11 will be collected at that time.

Senior golfers 60 years of age or older will be asked to register as a regular or as an alternate.

The Lakewood Rod & Gun Club is located at 433 Terrace Ave., Lakewood, N.Y.

Chautauqua Health and Fitness Classes

Chautauqua Health and Fitness, located in the Turner Community Center at Chautauqua Institution on Route 394, is offering several group exercise classes this spring.

Classes include morning, evening and Saturday cycling sessions, pilates, kickboxing and a water workout class in the Turner Community Pool. Classes begin April 8 and will run for eight or nine weeks.
