Adams Art Gallery starts Kickstarter project for new roof

The Adams Art Gallery on Central Avenue in Dunkirk has started a Kickstarter project to put a desperately needed new roof on the building. Please check out the project, make a pledge (you only have to pony up if the project is fully funded), repost, tell your friends, email your compadres, Help us get the word out.

Fredonia Cable Board meeting Thursday

Thursday at 7 p.m., the Fredonia Cable Access committee (Fredonia Time Warner channels 5 and 17) will discuss the renewal of the Cable Access contract, which expires this month along with new programming .

Residents interested in becoming committee members or submitting information for the Community Bulletin Board should contact the board at The group meets in the community room in the basement of the Fredonia Village Hall.

Boards of education to meet Thursday

There will be a special joint boards of education meeting with Westfield Academy and Central School District and the Brocton Central School District Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Brocton Central School Auditorium to discuss the results of the consolidation study. This meeting is open to the public.

‘Dialogues’ to appear on Access Channel 5

“Dialogues” is the name of a half-hour television program produced by Mark Kiyak from SUNY Fredonia. Hosted by Tina Zboch, the program will feature guest Hannah Farley. Farley is a senior at SUNY Fredonia and is president of the local Campus Climate Challenge and is the new Gleaning Project Coordinator for Chautauqua County Rural Ministry.

The program will air on Access Channel 5 at 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. each day beginning on Saturday with the last airing on April 19.

Access Channel 5 is available to cable viewers in the Mayville, Chautauqua, North Harmony, Sherman, Westfield and Portland areas.

Portland Planning Board meets today

The next monthly Planning Board meeting will be today at 7:30 p.m. in the Portland Town Hall. The meeting will include a continuation of the hearing (postponed from March 12) for the Site Plan Review & Special Use Permit for Speelberg Enterprises Inc. to construct four cabins and operate a camping park on Woleben Road.

Northern Chautauqua Catholic School Spring Open House Wednesday

Northern Chautauqua Catholic School will hold its annual Spring Open House for pre-k through 8th grades on Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Attendees can ask questions, take a tour and sign up for the upcoming school year.

Westfield Water Department announces hydrant flushings

The Westfield Water De-partment will flush hydrants within the water district in the weeks of April 15 to May 10, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. They will start at the highest point (south) and move to the lowest point (north).

The water will be slightly discolored and caution should be taken in regard to washing clothes. Despite the color the water at no time will be unsafe to drink. The Water Department apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. Contact the Water Dept. at 326-2832 with any questions or concerns.
