Dunkirk Fire Department responds to fire

Dunkirk Fire Department battled a fire in the city Tuesday evening.

Firefighters were dispatched to a fire at 307 Eagle St. at about 6:15 p.m. for the report of a fire. The large two-story house was found to have heavy fire involvement on the first floor. The fire was under control by 6:30 p.m. and fully extinguished by 7 p.m., according to Dunkirk Fire.

The occupant of the house escaped injury and there were no further injuries. The investigation into the cause is continuing.
