FSU men’s basketball hosting

campus blood drive

The Fredonia State men’s basketball team is once again hosting a Community Blood Bank Blood Drive.

The blood drive is being held in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room and will take place today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The first 75 donors will receive a free Adidas hat and T-shirt. All donors should bring picture identification with them.

Community Blood Bank is the lone supplier of blood and blood products to Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, and all donated blood stays local and benefits the community.

Women Who Golf For Fun

The Women Who Golf For Fun at Hillview will hold opening day Wednesday, May 1, weather permitting.

Tee off is scheduled for 10 a.m.

The women are asked to keep open the date of the monthly luncheon to be held on May 22, after golf. A meeting will be held to discuss any problems. A location will be announced later.

New golfers are always welcomed.

Dunkirk?Moose Thursday Night Golf League

The Dunkirk Moose Thursday Night Golf League will hold an organizational meeting on Saturday, April 13 at 2:30 p.m. at the Dunkirk Moose Club.

All returning players and anyone wishing to join are welcome.

Wednesday Travel League

The Wednesday Travel League will kick off the 2013 season today at Cable Hollow Golf Course in Russell, Pa.

The first tee-time is scheduled for 10 a.m.

McDonald’s Senior Tour

The 2013 edition of the McDonald’s Chautauqua County “Senior Tour,” will open its season on Monday, April 15 with its 10th annual registration brunch.

The brunch will be held at the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club at 11 a.m. A registration fee of $11 will be collected at that time and the brunch is $7.

Senior golfers 60 years of age or older will be asked to register as a regular or as an alternate.

The Lakewood Rod & Gun Club is located at 433 Terrace Ave., Lakewood, N.Y.

High School Baseball Showcase games

Chautauqua Lake Central School, with the assistance of the Chautauqua County Baseball Umpires’ Association, will once again sponsor the High School Baseball Showcase on April 26-27 at Russell E. Diethrick Park in Jamestown.

This is the seventh year of the resurrection of the Baseball Showcase which was conceived in the 1980s and will feature 12 high school baseball teams from Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties in a schedule of six games over the two-day period.

The Showcase gives local high school players an opportunity to play in a professional baseball stadium.

The schedule for the Baseball Showcase is as follows:

Friday, April 26:

4:30 – Westfield at Chautauqua Lake (League Game)

7:30 – Allegany Limestone at Southwestern (League Game)

Saturday, April 27

10 a.m. – Randolph vs. West Valley (Non-League Game)

1 p.m. – Panama vs. Brocton (Non-League Game)

4 p.m. – Pine Valley vs. Falconer (Non-League Game)

7 p.m. – Dunkirk vs. Maple Grove (Non-League Game)

A gate fee of $1 for students (K-12) and Senior Citizens, and $2 for adults will be charged to help Chautauqua Lake Baseball, to add to the Umpires’ Association Baseball Scholarship Fund and to offset some of the costs of operating the Showcase.
