White helps Black Knights to 10-7 win

ATHOL SPRINGS – Down 3-2 at halftime, Silver Creek (3-0) rallied for a 10-7 non-league win over St. Francis, during boys’ high school lacrosse action Wednesday.

“Our defense played an outstanding game,” Silver Creek head coach Bill Brennan said, noting the play of Billy Brooks, Chance Gates, Tyson Brown, Nate Serio, Zeddie Williams and Kaine Kettle.

The Black Knights had to endure a 30-minute weather delay as well, coming out of it firing on all cylinders.

“We came our fired up and built a four or five goal lead,” Brennan said. “And then we kept it pretty much from there.”

Brennan White had a team-high five goals while Sherman Williams added three goals of his own. Zeddie Williams chipped in a goal and three assists in the win. Gates also added a goal while Chase Scanlan made seven saves in the cage.

“We’ve had to battle this year,” Brennan said. “Last year we scored a lot, but the teams we’re playing (this year) are competitive. They come out and they’re ready to play. I told the boys from the start that teams are looking to knock Silver Creek from the top.”

The Black Knights will be back in action today when they travel to take on Salamanca.
