Gowanda discusses water agreement

GOWANDA – The village of Gowanda is working on a water and sewer district in connection with the town of Persia. Mayor Heather McKeever was in attendance at a recent Gowanda Village Board meeting with other members from the village and the county.

Along with McKeever, other officials in attendance discussed the agreement between the town and the village and went through it line by line.

“It was very productive,” McKeever said. “…. things are moving forward.”

The agreement will now be presented to the town board in Persia for further action.

The village also honored Lou “Looch” Selan, who was recently inducted into the Cattaraugus County Sports Hall of Fame, by proclaiming Lou “Looch” Selan Day within the village.

The village also approved to form a water advisory committee consisting of a board liaison, village engineer, chief water operator and representatives from the community, fire department and county department of health.
