Elizabeth H. Krzyzanowicz

Elizabeth H. “Betty” Krzyzanowicz, 83, of Dunkirk, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Brooks Memorial Hospital, with her family at her side.

She was born in Dunkirk, October 19, 1929, daughter of the late John and Marie (Holdorff) Stranz.

At one time Betty was an employee of the former Van Raalte Corporation in Dunkirk and retired from New York Telephone.

Her memberships included Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig, past president of the Dunkirk Falcons Ladies Auxiliary, and the past president of the Dunkirk Pigeons Club Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and going to their sporting events, playing Bingo, visiting the Casinos, Vegas and enjoying Sunday dinners with her sister Dorothy and niece Shirley.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years Norm S. “Niny” Krzyzanowicz, whom she married October 7, 1950; their children Susan (Timothy) Gornikiewicz, Nancy (Susan Connors) Krzyzanowicz, Sharon (Robert) Kokocinski and daughter-in-law Judy Krzyzanowicz, all of Dunkirk; her sister and best friend Dorothy Drozdiel; grandchildren Robert (Elly) Krzyzanowicz, Kimberly (John) Lanski, Michelle (Jason) Berne, Amy Rickard, Denise (Torre) Krzyzanowicz, Timothy Gornikiewicz, Nicole Dobek, Samantha Hall, Robert Kokocinski; great-grandchildren Abigail & Grayson Krzyzanowicz, Troy & Jack Lanski, Elliana Barfoot, Nicholas & Alexander Noel, Olivia & Aidan Berne, Ewan Rickard, Mariusz Dobek, Aalayah Torres, along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Krzyzanowicz; sisters Marion Gorican, Helen Kaus; and brothers John Stranz, Henry Stranz.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 o”clock in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.
