Postal Service hiring; deadline to apply Thursday
BUFFALO – Nearly 300 City Carrier Assistant positions have been filled in the Western New York District over the last three months. However, 100 additional positions remain available; approximately 50 in the greater Buffalo area. Therefore, the U.S. Postal Service is again posting the CCA job vacancy announcement; the deadline to apply is Thursday.
“We have received over 1,500 applications of interested job seekers, but have only vetted about 300 qualified candidates,” said Manager of Human Resources Mary Tarzia. “Job opportunities are still available for those interested in finding a place with the United States Postal Service.”
CCAs are appointed for a term of 360 calendar days and may be reappointed for another 360-day term after a five-day break in service. The positions entail all the duties normally performed by a city letter carrier and may lead to a career position.
Salary and limited benefits include $15 an hour, paid vacation days and eligibility for health care benefits as required by law, or after the first 360-day term.
The deadline to apply is Thursday. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and two years driving experience.
