Parent Network of WNY plans workshops
Parent Network of WNY announces several upcoming workshops during April. Families who have children or young adults with special needs are encouraged to attend.
These workshops are free of charge for these families. To register or for more information, call 332-4170 or go to www.parentnetworkwny.org. The workshop schedule is as follows:
On Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m., the workshop “Transition for Families” will be held at The Resource Center, 200 Dunham Ave., Jamestown. The goals of this new state-vetted training are to ensure that parents, family members and students can work with their CSE to assess their child’s strengths, interests and needs; establish measurable goals for life after high school; and identify appropriate transition services and coordinated activities.
On Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., “NYS Parent Member Training” will be held at Connections North, 10825 Bennett Road, Dunkirk. This NYS Education Dept. training is intended to provide Parent Members who sit on the Committees on Preschool and School Age Special Education with an understanding of their role, requirements and the special education process. Participants will learn techniques and strategies to fulfill their parent member roles in a meeting.
“NYS” Parent Member Training” will be held a second time on April 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Prendergast Library, 509 Cherry St., Jamestown.
