Cattaraugus County saves residents more than $125K with ProAct program
LITTLE VALLEY – Cattaraugus County has provided residents with a prescription drug discount card program since May 2012. The Cattaraugus County Legislature endorsed the ProAct program in an effort to provide financial relief at the pharmacy counter for residents who are uninsured or underinsured. Since the program was implemented, residents who have utilized the discount card have collectively saved more than $125,000, while filling more than 2,500 prescriptions at an average savings of 62 percent on each medication filled.
By endorsing the prescription discount card program, Cattaraugus County is 1 of 50 counties across New York state which has provided uninsured and underinsured residents with access to affordable prescriptions. The ProAct discount card program offers some level of savings on every medication filled with the card, typically ranging from 10-20 percent off name brand medications and 20-70 percent off generic medications. The discount card can be used at most pharmacies within the county.
There are no fees associated with the discount card program and one card can be used to cover the entire family. Simply present the discount card at your local pharmacy when filling a new prescription and start saving.
