The Hae Jude Softball Tourney, which was to be held this weekend at Silver Creek Central School, has been postponed until Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27.

Dunkirk LBA to Hold Meeting Sunday

The Dunkirk Lakeshore Bowling Association will hold a board meeting on Sunday, April 21 at 11 a.m., at Lakeview Lanes in Silver Creek.

This is an open meeting and any league bowler within the association is welcome to attend.

Board members who cannot attend the meeting should call Association Manager Priscilla Seybold at 366-7161 or Association President Tom Battaglia at 785-7733.

2013 DLBA Masters

Set to Begin April 27

The 14th annual Dunkirk-Lakeshore Bowling Association Masters tournament, sponsored by Hi-Tech Services, is set to begin on Saturday, April 27 at Lakeview Lanes in Silver Creek.

The tournament features two 4-game scratch blocks bowled on Saturday and Sunday with a 16 person, double-elimination roll-off to be contested immediately after the Sunday qualifier.

Entry fee is $60. Applications with squad times are available at all local bowling centers. for any questions, contact P.J. Azzarella at 785-1265.

There will be a practice round, short meeting and team draw on Tuesday, April 23. First tee time is 4 p.m.

Crouse 5K Challenge

The 14th Annual Crouse 5K Challenge in Gowanda is scheduled for Saturday, May 11. The 5K will begin at 6:30 p.m. while the 1/2 mile fun run will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Tot Sprint will begin at 7:15 p.m.

Proceeds will be used for the Gowanda Central School Dennis Crouse, Sr. Scholarship Fund & the Blue by U … Youth Track Club.

NCCYHA Tryouts

The Northern Chautauqua County Youth Hockey Association (NCCYHA) will hold travel tryouts for the 2013-2014 season on April 21, at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena.

Bantam Travel Tryout will be at 5 p.m., Pee Wee Travel will be held at 7:15 p.m. A tryout fee of $15 will be charged at the door.

Non-NCCYHA players must submit a signed release and birth certificate.

All players are encouraged to wear a numbered jersey for the tryout. Players that cannot attend the tryout must contact Kevin Persch at kwpersch@netsync.net.

Travel registration forms can be found on the association’s website www.nccyha.com.

Signed forms must be submitted at the tryout.

Women Who

Golf For Fun

The Women Who Golf For Fun at Hillview will hold opening day Wednesday, May 1, weather permitting.

Tee off is scheduled for 10 a.m.

The women are asked to keep open the date of the monthly luncheon to be held on May 22, after golf. A meeting will be held to discuss any problems. A location will be announced later.

New golfers are always welcomed.

High School Baseball Showcase games

Chautauqua Lake Central School, with the assistance of the Chautauqua County Baseball Umpires Association, will once again sponsor the High School Baseball Showcase on April 26-27 at Russell E. Diethrick Park in Jamestown.

This is the seventh year of the resurrection of the Baseball Showcase which was conceived in the 1980s and will feature 12 high school baseball teams from Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties in a schedule of six games over the two-day period.

The Showcase gives local high school players an opportunity to play in a professional baseball stadium.

The schedule for the Baseball Showcase is as follows:

Friday, April 26

4:30 pm Westfield at Chautauqua Lake League

7:30 pm Allegany Limestone at Southwestern – League

Saturday, April 27

10 a.m. Randolph vs. West Valley Non-League

1 p.m. Panama vs. Brocton Non-League

4 p.m. Ripley vs. Pine Valley – Non League

7 p.m. Falconer vs. Maple Grove Non League

A gate fee of $1 for students (K-12) and senior citizens, and $2 for adults will be charged to help Chautauqua Lake Baseball, to add to the Umpires Association Baseball Scholarship Fund and to offset some of the costs of operating the Showcase.

9th Annual Hunt of a Lifetime Shootout

NSCOPBA and the friends of Allen Wojtkowiak have announced the 9th Annual Shootout to Benefit Hunt of a Lifetime, which helps make dreams come true for children and young adults with life-threatening illnesses.

The event will take place Saturday, May 11 at the Westfield Fish and Game Club.

Shooters will participate in trap, skeet and 5-stand sporting clays. Juniors (10-14) with shoot trap and youths (10-under) will participate in the BB gun shoot. There will be trophies given for top shooters in open, ladies, seniors and juniors. Shooting begins at 9 a.m.

There will be a roast beef dinner from 12-4 and prize raffles throughout the day. The final prize auction will begin at 4 p.m.

The event costs $20 for shooters and $10 for dinner only. Kids 14 and under eat free.
