Fredonia’s WCA Home collecting donations for fifth annual Front Porch Sale
The WCA Home in Fredonia is gathering items it can sell during its fifth annual Front Porch Sale, planned for Attic & Seller Days June 7-8. Board President Barb Servatius said donations are being accepted now and pickup service will be provided if requested.
Donations are requested of clean and gently used furniture, books, and most other items, but not clothing, textbooks, or encyclopedias. Items can be delivered to the home during business hours. Or, to request a pickup, donors can call the main office at 672-7961, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Front Porch Sale will be held June 7-8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the front yard of the home’s location at 134 Temple St. Baked goods made by the Friends of WCA Home, along with beverages, will also be sold. The Friends of WCA Home will assist customers at the sale.
All items for sale will be marked at garage-sale prices.
The annual event is a fundraiser to benefit the residents by funding special events they can enjoy with family and friends.
Located in the original Victorian home established by its founders in 1892, the WCA Home is a not-for-profit, non-denominational assisted-living residence for senior women started by the Fredonia Women’s Christian Association. Its original charter is on display in the entryway.
From the onset of the home’s establishment, the community has supported it with donations of all types.
In existence for more than 125 years in Fredonia, the Home is overseen by a voluntary Board of Directors and is fully licensed by the New York State Department of Health as an Adult Home and an Assisted Living Program facility. Part of its mission is to remain affordable to a diverse population.
It is home to 37 women and has a full and part-time staff of 35.
