WESTFIELD – Wednes-day has been chosen for the annual Westfield Senior Citizen’s Day dinner sponsored by the Westfield Recreation Department.

This event will be held at the United Methodist Church on Main Street. Serving will begin at 6 p.m. A historical display of Westfield and musical entertainment is being planned. Reservations are requested but not required. Call 326-4243 for more information or to make a reservation. A nominal donation of $6 per person is asked at the door to help defray the cost. Several community groups contribute to the operation of this annual event.

Westfield residents needing help with yard work and odd jobs are asked to call the Westfield Recreation Department at 326-4243 and they will assist in arranging for a local teen to help.

The Welch Field Activities Building is available for group rentals.

“Concerts in the Park” sponsors are needed. The community is in need of sponsors for their “Concerts in Park” series. Westfield would like to continue this traditional enjoyable family entertainment for the summer evenings. If interested in sponsoring one of the concerts, contact 326-4243.

Individuals interested in applying for summer jobs at the Recreation Program or the pool can file an application at the Village Hall window. For pool applications a life guard certification is required. Call the office for more information at 326-4243.

The group will be traveling to Washington, D.C., May 31 to June 2. The price includes two-night lodging, two breakfasts, two full course dinners, admission to the Smithsonian Institution, a tram tour at Arlington Cemetery and the memorials, a guided sightseeing tour including The U.S. Capitol and Visitors’ Center, the U.S. Library of Congress, the Air & Space Museum, Embassy Row, the National Cathedral, and a visit to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Reservations can be made at the Village of Westfield window. Payment can be made in two installments.

Join the group for the largest D-Day Conneaut ever with nearly 800 reenactors from all over the U.S. and Canada. It has become one of the largest WWII reenactments in the country. Plans are being made for a one day bus trip to the WWII Reenactment at Conneaut, Ohio on Saturday, Aug. 17. The cost is $25; attendees will get meals on their own.
