Lawrence F. Kaiser

Lawrence F. “Larry” Kaiser, 90, of Dunkirk died Friday evening (April 19, 2013) at the Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.

He was born May 24, 1922 in Delhi, the son of the late Nicholas and Lida (Holtz) Kaiser Leckliter.

Larry graduated from Dunkirk High School and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the Eu-ropean Theater during World War II.

He was employed by the DUNKIRK EVENING OBSERVER for 42 years as a Linotype operator. He began his career as a newspaper delivery boy.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling, family activities, cook-ing, gardening, watching horse and car races, and going on regional road trips with his family.

Larry also enjoyed family picnics, polka music, puttering in his workshop, family dogs, and a good hot fudge sundae.

He was a proud member of the American Legion in Dunkirk and had a much appreciated self-effacing sense of humor.

Survivors include two sons, John Kaiser of Blasdell and Kenneth Kaiser of Brandon, Miss; one daughter, Patricia (Peter) Cutulle of Rochester; one brother, Norman (Betty) Kaiser of Fla; one sister, Elaine Sullivan of Fredonia; four grandchildren, Larissa M. Cutulle of Rochester, Benjamin Lawrence Cutulle of Houston, Texas, and James and Kimberly Kaiser of Jackson, Miss; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Marian E. “Betty” (Waiter) Kaiser who died Feb. 20, 2012; son, William Kaiser; nephew, Norman Kaiser Jr.; sister, Delores Kaiser Morrison; niece, Kathleen (Thom) Szwejbka; and several infant children.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. The Rev. Molly T. Golando will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
