David E. Lancaster

David E. “Hotel Mel” Lancaster, 66, of Dunkirk died unexpectedly Monday morning (April 22, 2013) at home.

He was born April 29, 1946 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Eric and Virginia (Woelfle) Lancaster.

A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Mr. Lancaster had been employed as a steel worker at Roblin Steel in Dunkirk.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, First Ward Falcon Club, and Fourth Ward Falcon Club.

He enjoyed camping and sports and was an avid Oakland Raiders and New York Mets fan.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary (Mizwa) Lancaster whom he married June 15, 1974; two sons, Brad (Audrey Pacos) Lancaster and Brett (Amber) Lancaster, both of Dunkirk; three sisters, Jackie (Dan) Forman of Dunkirk, Virginia Wachter of De Land, Fla; and Diane Connelly of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Paul (Chris) Lancaster of Blacksburg, Virginia; four grandchildren, Meghan, Kelsey, and Kayleigh Lancaster and Bryson Pacos; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 o’clock in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Deacon Michael Anderson will officiate. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers gratefully declined.
