Lockwood medals as Maple Grove edges Cassadaga Valley

CASSADAGA – Maple Grove’s Wil Lockwood charted a 4-under-par 36 Monday to lift the Red Dragons (2-0, 3-2) past Cassadaga Valley (1-2, 1-2), 33.5-21.5, in CCAA Division 2 high school golf.

Lockwood shot a 32 at Cassadaga Country Club.

Andy Farnham added a 41 and Bryce Moyer shot a 44 in the win.

The Cougars were led by Anthony Miller’s 44. David Meadows and Nick Stern each shot a 48 in a losing effort.

Cassadaga Valley returns to action next Monday against Clymer-Panama-Sherman.

JAMESTOWN – The Southwestern Lady Trojans (4-1) came out on top Wednesday after defeating the Jamestown Lady Red Raiders (2-2), 30-24, and the Fredonia Lady Hillbillies (0-3), 30-24.5, in CCIAC Division 1 girls golf action Monday at Moonbrook Country Club.

Southwestern’s Marissa DelMonaco shot a 46 on the Par 36 front nine to claim medalist honors. Fellow Lady Trojans Leigh Yartz (48) and Megan Gutzmer (54) followed behind her.

Jamestown went 1-1 for the day after a 29-26 win over Fredonia.

Kristie Hanson led the Lady Red Raiders with a 55 while Alyssa Leathers and Emily Isaacson added a 60 and a 61, respectively.

Megan Bleck shot a 54 to lead Fredonia while Marina Kessler shot a 64. Krista Wheelock and Anne Auston each shot a 66 for the Lady Hillbillies.

Fredonia hosts Nichols Friday.
