Steel Plant Museum to host speaker
BUFFALO – The Steel Plant Museum of WNY will feature a well-known local brick collector Frank Clement to headline its monthly First Wednesday program on May 1. The free program will be presented at the SPM, located at 100 Lee St. in South Buffalo, beginning at 6 p.m.
Thousands of bricks compile the Frank and Jane Clement Brick Museum collection, which is housed in Orchard Park. Clement will provide interesting information on a number of bricks in his collection. He will explain the history of his bricks, when and where they were made, how they were acquired, the effort and travel involved in searching for old and rare bricks, and the time needed for research and cataloging. Clement’s strong collecting interest is not limited to bricks alone; he also acquires manhole and water meter covers along with chimney pots.
Museum doors will open at 5 p.m. Off-street parking is available behind the building.
Food snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase. For more information, call 821-9361 or 675-4006.
