Library celebrates Month of the Young Child
BROCTON – The Friends of the Ahira Hall Memorial Library invited the community for a fun-filled evening to celebrate the Month of the Young Child in April. The theme for 2013 is “Roots and wings.”
The Brownies and Juniors from Girl Scouts of Western New York Troop 20025 in Brocton organized crafts using the “roots and wings” theme. The children that attended made May Day baskets to brighten someone’s day, with tie-dye butterflies, birds that can fly and flower art naming all of the parts of a flower.
As part of a community outreach project the Girl Scouts organized a used book drive at Brocton Central School. They created posters and hung them throughout school and placed boxes to collect book donations. The girls reached out to fellow students, teachers, faculty and community members to donate books for the Ahira Hall Memorial Library.
All of the books collected in the drive will be used on the library shelves or will be placed in the library book sale on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
