Quilters Guild holds raffle
NORTH EAST, Pa. – The North East Crazy Quilters Guild 2013 raffle quilt has been selected as the featured cover quilt for the 20th Edition Regional Directory of The Quilt Shop Navigator. Designed by Joy Reich into a Burgoyne Surrounded pattern and originally called it “Saturday Surround.”
The quilt was a part of a Saturday Sampler program at Calico Patch quilt shop and donated to the North East Crazy Quilters of North East, Pa., for their 2013 Raffle Quilt. The guild renamed the quilt “Lite-Brite” inspired by the creative toy of its children’s young lives. It was machine quilted by Alison Schmidt with the Quilting Pattern “Spin” from Willow Leaf Studio designed by Jodi Beamish. The quilt was photographed for the cover by Selleena Ellsworth.
Raffle tickets for this work of art are available from all guild members and will be sold at Sander’s Market in North East on Memorial Day weekend with the winning ticket pulled at the Crazy Quilters biennial quilt show, June 8 and 9 at the North East Elementary Center. The show features 150 quilts including all sizes plus two challenge categories: Dream Vacation and UFO. Other activities include: Tea Room, Chinese Auction, demonstrations, vendors and appraisals. The guild has members from northwestern Pennsylvania and New York with the mission to promote traditional and all styles of quilting arts. Entries must be submitted by May 1.
