Trailer heavily damaged in late night fire
BROCTON – Firefighters were called to a trailer fire at Lot 69 at the Ellicott Estates on Ellicott Road in the town of Portland around 10 p.m. Friday night.
Brocton Mayor David Hazelton, who is also a firefighter, said the fire was fully involved upon arrival and flames were apparent.
Firefighters continued to fight the flames for over an hour. Smoke poured out of the mobile home as tanker trucks brought in water from the village to fight back the blaze.
Brocton Fire Chief Bryan Woleben said it was hard to tell if the trailer was a total loss but the Red Cross had been called to assist the family. He said there were no injuries reported.
In addition to Brocton Fire Department, Portland, Stockton and East Dunkirk Fire Departments responded along with the Sheriff’s Department.
