Spring Literacy Banquet set for Wednesday in Mayville

MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Reading Council invites area educators and individuals to its annual Spring Literacy Banquet Wednes-day at Webb’s Captain’s Table. Registration is at 4:30 p.m. followed by dinner and an author presentation.

This year’s virtual presentation is with award-winning New York state author Kate Messner. Some of her titles include The Brilliant Fall of Gianna Z, winner of the 2010 E.B. White Read Aloud Award for Older Reader, along with Spitfire, Sugar and Ice, and Capture the Flag. Messner has also written children’s picture books and a book for teachers about writing titled Real Revision.

Besides Messner’s presentation, SUNY Fredonia Literacy Program students will present posters of their Master’s Projects/Theses. There will also be information on new literacy books and ideas for teachers and students as well as door prizes.
