Zoar Valley Fest set for May 11
GOWANDA – The Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Zoar Valley Fest will be May 11 starting at 11 a.m. in Creekside Park (behind Shop ‘n Save supermarket), along Cattaraugus Creek in Gowanda.
Exhibitors and vendors will welcome visitors to Creekside Park starting at 11 a.m.
The DEC will provide a Backyard Bass Fishing ex-perience and a fish pond for the kids. There will also be raft rides between noon and 3 p.m. every half hour (register at the Chamber office 532-2834), hikes through Zoar Valley, canoe/kayak/raft races starting at 4:30 p.m., and train rides (on the hour starting at 11 a.m., tickets available only at the Depot).
There will also be horse and carriage rides to the gorge (pre-register at mistyridgecarriage.com/index.html or call 532-5859), a rock-climbing wall and plenty of demonstrations, and rafting/kayaking movies at the Hollywood Theater. Food and refreshments will be available at the park.
At 6:30 p.m., activities shift to American Legion Post 409 in Gowanda, a short walk from the park, when the Crouse 5K Challenge gets under way. After the post-race awards and announcements, The Little Mountain Band, sponsored by the AMVETS 409, will take to the stage at 9 p.m.
