Eagles find a way to win with just 3 hits

ANGOLA – “We are officially winning ugly.”

Those were the words of Lake Shore coach Bob Kowal after watching his team defeat Springville, 3-2, Monday in ECIC Division 2 high school baseball.

The Eagles mustered just three hits – none of which drove in a run.

The team scored two runs in the sixth inning to take the lead and did so without getting a hit. The team benefited from four walks and a hit batter to plate the runs.

“I guess I should just be enjoying the ride,” Kowal said. “We play two very tough teams coming up in Cheektowaga (4-2) and East Aurora (5-1). If we hit the way we hit (Monday), we will finish the week 7-2.”

Billy Pinter scored Lake Shore’s other run on a sacrifice fly by Steve Budniewski.

Defensively, Lake Shore turned three double plays.
