Van?Miller Hometown Hero

Scholarship Golf?Tournament

On Friday, June 14, the Van Miller Hometown Hero Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament presented by Lake Shore Savings Bank will once again be held at Shorewood Country Club in Dunkirk.

The fifth annual golf tournament funds a scholarship for two outstanding Dunkirk High School seniors.

The honorary emcee for this year’s event will be former Buffalo Bills player Mark Kelso.

Kelso played his entire eight-year career from 1986-1993 with the Bills and appeared in their four consecutive Super Bowl bids. He currently is a radio broadcaster for Buffalo Bills’ games on WGR 550.

There are many opportunities to support this event.

Fredonia High?School softball, baseball parking

Anyone attending Fredonia baseball or softball games at Fredonia High School should not park in the parking lot across from the field on Route 60.

This is a private lot and cars parked there are subject to being towed at the owners’ expense. Spectators for all home baseball and softball games are asked to please park on school property only.

Dunkirk Lakeshore Bowling Association Masters

Azzarella wins his first Masters

P.J. Azzarella defeated Dan Latona 217-216 and 233-222 to win the 2013 Dunkirk Lakeshore Bowling Association Masters Tournament, sponsored by Sunset Truck & Auto and Hi Tech Services, Inc.

Double elimination match-play finals were held this past Sunday at Lakeview Lanes in Silver Creek. Azzarella lost his first match to Josh Wilmont then reeled off eight straight victories, averaging 229, to take the title. Top qualifier was Ryan Robe with a two-day (eight-game) total of 1,819. Don McAndrews was the second highest qualifier with a score of 1,805.

The Master’s Tournament now gives way to the 84th Annual DLBA Championships Tournament, also being held at Lakeview Lanes. The tournament runs daily through May 17.
