Honorary chairman named for 15th Robert Maytum Memorial Golf Tournament

The committee for the 2013 Robert Maytum Memorial golf tournament has named Daniel C. Siracuse as the Honorary Chairman for the 2013 charity event.

The tribute came about due to Siracuse’s longtime support of the tournament, as chairperson of the event, and for his enthusiasm toward the local community.

Siracuse’s community involvement includes: Boys and Girls Club of Northern Chautauqua County, St. Susan’s Kitchen, as well as, participation in the Resource Center from Gus Macker Tournament, the March of Dime’s WalkAmerica and the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. He has also been involved with the Funders Committee of the NCCF, an advisory group that accesses community needs and reaches out to potential funding recipients and is a former member of the 1891 Fredonia Opera House.

Siracuse is also a member of the Chautauqua Leadership Network’s class of 2001, and currently serves as a board member of the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry and the Fredonia Chamber of Commerce. He is a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Church in Fredonia.

He currently holds the position of Marketing Manager at DFT Communications and President of Star Media Group.

“Dan has been a great supporter of our annual charity golf tournament and as co-chair of the event for the past 12 years,” Mark Maytum, President and COO of DFT, said “It is only fitting to honor his hard work and name him Honorary Chair of this year’s event.”

He and his wife Barbara reside in Fredonia and are parents of Jenna, Benjamin and Daniel.

In 2008, this annual golf tournament, formerly known as the DFT Communications Community Benefit Golf Tournament was renamed the Robert Maytum Memorial to honor Robert Maytum Sr., a quiet philanthropist, for his many acts of kindness and support to not only the local community but a vast array of programs and projects throughout the region.

This year, the tournament will be held Monday, June 10, on the Upper Course at the Peek ‘n Peak Resort & Spa in Findley Lake.

Proceeds from the 2013 Robert Maytum Memorial will benefit the Jamestown Community College Unified Student Assistance Scholarship Program with money being administered through the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. The USA Scholarship Program offers full residential tuition for up to four semesters for students who graduate from participating schools in the top 20 percent of their class. Last year JCC was the recipient of a check of $20,000 for the program
