Sorority celebrates sisters’ accomplishments
Members and guests of the Brocton Perceptor Beta Epsilon Sorority recently met at Fireside Manor in Dunkirk to celebrate Beta Sigma Phi Founder’s Day. Prior to the dinner, rituals were held for two members, Margie Boltz and Lois Smith, who have attained the Master Degree, which is Beta Sigma Phi’s sixth and highest degree. During the evening the “Ritual of Jewels” degree was conferred to Regina Hesslink, who has completed her pledge training and is now a regular member of the chapter. The women were congratulated by all in attendance and presented with special pins, a yellow rose and cards. The tables were adorned with small pots of begonias for each member and dessert was a special cake made for this momentous occasion.
During the Founder’s Day observance, Janice Hipwell read a special poem, “Reflections of Love,” by Alma Roby, about friends looking into a mirror and seeing reflections of love. She then announced the 2013 “Girl of the Year” as someone who is always willing to help others, makes important contributions to the chapter throughout the year, works on special projects and is a genuine, lovely person. This special “Girl of the Year” is Lois Smith. She was presented with a unique pin and congratulated by her “sisters.”
