Black?Knights drop first league game in three years

EAST AURORA – The Silver Creek Black Knights (9-2) dropped their first league game in more than three years – and second consecutive game overall – via a 20-16 defeat at the hands of the East Aurora Blue Devils on Thursday in Class C boys high school lacrosse action.

“We came out flat,” Silver Creek coach Bill Brennan said. “We got here a little bit late. (East Aurora) was ready. They came out on fire, they jumped out to a lead and we played catch-up the whole game. We got it to within two goals with five or six minutes left and we just ran out of gas.”

The Black Knights’ last league blemish came in a 16-12 loss to Eden on April 7, 2010.

Zeddie Williams led the Black Knights in defeat with nine goals and two assists while Brennan White added four goals and two assists. Chase Scanlan recorded eight saves in a losing effort.

Silver Creek returns to action Tuesday against undefeated Akron.

“We just have to come back to the drawing board,” Brennan said. “It starts with practice, getting back to the basic fundamentals and getting back to our system.”
