Shorewood Country Club

Kitty Kubera shot a hole-in-one on Sunday at Shorewood Country Club.

Kubera used a 4-iron to make the shot on the 122-yard No. 17. Witnesses were Kubera’s son Scott Herdzik, Cathy Topp and Dawn Woleben.


Dunkirk Little League Work Bee

The Dunkirk Little League will have a work bee Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. Parents, managers and coaches are all asked to come down and help get the complex cleaned and ready for some baseball and softball.

Bring rakes, shovels and weed wackers.

Vineyards Tuesday Night Men’s League

The Vineyards Tuesday Night Men’s League will begin play Tuesday, May 7 for fun night.

League play will begin Tuesday, May 14.

Interested players of any skill level should contact the Vineyards Golf Course at 672-7888.

Fredonia Girls Basketball Camp

Fredonia Central School will host a girls basketball camp Monday, June 24 to Thursday, June 27 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The cost of the camp is $95 per camper or $80 if paid by June 1. Those who send five or more students from the same school and send in their applications together can deduct $10. It is open to all girls entering grades 3-12.

Each player is expected to arrive between 8:30 and 8:55 a.m. The camp will start promptly at 9 a.m. Athletes are expected to bring their own lunch. There will be cold pop, water and Gatorade for sale at lunch time and at the end of the day. All athletes should have their ride pick them up at 3:30 p.m. All parents are welcome to come to the awards ceremony at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Wednesday Travel League

Dave Mathews shot the low round of 80 at Blueberry Hill Golf Club in Russell, Pa. Mathews, Bill Merryweather and Bob Thompson all shot 40 for the low front nine while Tim Walawender shot 39 for the low back nine. Paul Olkowski won the B Flight on a tiebreaker over Pete Gawron and Jeff Kubera. Doug Keith was the C Flight winner and Pat Weaver won the D Flight. Winner of the Commissioner’s Award was Lee Titus.

Fredonia Wright League

Youth Council 14, Firemen 2

Youth Council jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first inning.

Karim Levens had two hits and Owen Nicosia, Mike Barnes, Charlie Gilbert, Trace MacKenzie and Devon Wiedenhofer chipped in for a hit each for Youth Council.

Pitching for Youth Council was Nicosia, Brandon Miles and Dalton Gardner.

Firemen collected two hits from Keith Piper and one each from Aaron Pacos and Tanner Haas.

On the mound, Brandon Wallace and Lucas Green pitched in defeat.
