St. Dominic’s Altar and Rosary Society to hold luncheon
The Altar and Rosary Society of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Westfield will hold its annual salad luncheon on Wednesday, May 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Westfield site. A large variety of salads will be served along with desserts and beverages. For more information, contact the church office at 326-2816.
Church changes service time
LEON – Celebration Fellowship Church in Leon is changing services from morning to 7 p.m. beginning Sunday. Last year this worked well and the church is trying it again this year. Everyone is welcome to join in. The church is a Christian, nondenominational church.
On Saturday, May 18, there will be a Mother and Daughter Brunch at 11 a.m. at the church with a hat show. To participate, make up a hat and let the church know how many will be attending. Call 287-2793 or 296-5791 for reservations.
Church features speaker
LILY DALE- Students are invited to explore past and present worlds of female mystics in a class, “Women Mystics, Then and Now,” presented Sunday, 1:30-3:30 p.m. by Vivian Garcia at the Church of the Living Spirit, Cleveland Avenue. Garcia is a resident of Cassadaga, and a member of the Church of the Living Spirit.
The church will feature guest speaker Aloma Cason at its Sunday worship service at 10:30 a.m.
Children to perform play for Sunday service
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua announces that the children of the Religious Exploration classes will present the service on Sunday. The classes will perform a play, “The Wonderful Happens” adapted from the book by Cynthia Rylant. All are welcome to attend this special service.
During the service, nursery care will be available for children under the age of 5.

St. John’s United Church to hold Swiss steak dinner
A Swiss steak dinner will be held at St. John’s United Church on Central Avenue in Dunkirk on Saturday, May 18 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Take-out is available. Tickets are $7.50 presale or $8 at the door. Call 366-0710 for reservations.
Holy Trinity Seniors plan special meeting
Holy Trinity Seniors will meet Thursday, May 9 at 12:30 p.m. in the Parish Center. Members should bring their own lunches. This is an important meeting and all members should attend.
Relic of Pope John Paul II to be venerated May 13
A first class relic containing blood of John Paul II, which came from the assassination attempt on the Pope’s life on May 13, 1981 in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican, will be venerated on Monday, May 13 at St. Hyacinth’s Church on Lake Shore Drive East in Dunkirk.
This May 13, Blessed John Paul II will be honored at a special Our Lady of Fatima Mass at 6:30 p.m. at St. Hyacinth’s Church, followed by a blessing with the John Paul II relic with individual veneration. A light reception will follow in the Lyceum.
All area Catholics and other people of good will are warmly invited to participate and venerate the relic.
