CLCS comes from behind to drop Maple Grove

MAYVILLE – Chautauqua Lake (7-3, 4-3) pulled out a 10-9 come-from-behind win Saturday over CCAA Division 3 softball foe Maple Grove.
Down 9-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lady Thunderbirds got a key double by Ashley Moulton, took advantage of a key error by the Lady Red Dragons and got a walk-off single from Hannah Rauh to pull out the win.
Moulton (two RBIs), winning pitcher Lauren Cummings (three RBIs) and Courtney Hewes doubled as a part of two-hit efforts while Rauh finished with a pair of hits and two RBIs.
Maple Grove got on the board with a pair of runs in the top of the third, before Chautauqua Lake came back in their half of the third with four runs to take a slight one-run edge.
The Lady Red Dragons went on top 6-4 in the top of the fifth, but allowed the Lady Thunderbirds chipped away at their lead after scoring a run in their half of the fifth inning.
Maple Grove put three runs on the board in the top of the seventh to seemingly put the game away, but the Lady Thunderbirds were able to come all the way back to pick up a key divisional win.
