City senior apparently robbed at gunpoint at home

Dunkirk police are seeking the public’s assistance in apprehending a man who allegedly robbed a senior citizen at gunpoint at her home Saturday morning.

According to officers, the senior citizen had just returned home from grocery shopping at 7:25 a.m. and was followed into her West Second Street home by a male subject wearing a dark T-shirt pulled up over his face, a green cap and dark pants. The subject had what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money.

The victim had an undetermined amount of cash taken from her and the intruder left the house. The subject is being described by the victim as “not being very tall, skinny and light-colored skin” and spoke with a Hispanic accent.

Police are looking for anyone in the area of West Second, between Brigham Road and Swan Street, who might have been in the area between 7 and 7:30 a.m. that could have seen someone matching the description to call Dunkirk police at 366-2266 or the confidential tip line at 363-0313.
