Chuck Gilbert Collision 3, A Plus Plumbing 2 – Chuck Gilbert Collision scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to rally pass A Plus Plumbing. Lucas Pchelka, Kam Mages and Sean Farnham each had hits and scored in the sixth inning for Chuck Gilbert Collision. Dominic Tenamore added two hits in the win.

Dylan Skelly had two hits and one run for A Plus Plumbing. Alex Paluch had a double and an RBI while Gabriel Hellwig had two hits.

Moose Club 14 Firemen 13 – The rally caps were out as the Moose Club came back from a two-run deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning.

After a walk and an infield single, Tyler Winchell hit a two-run triple to tie the game. AJ Schrantz then smacked a single to left for the game-winning run. Also contributing for the Moose Club were Matt Tinstman (two hits) and Nate Shuart (double). Michael Berg, Joey Vandette, Dawson Bird and Nate Schrantz each recorded their first Wright League hit.

The Firemen were led by the hot hitting of Keith Piper (three hits), Lukey Green (two hits) and Tanner Haas (two hits).

Dunkirk Moose Thursday Night Golf League – The top point scorers for week one were: Pat Mackowiak 7.5, Phil Maslach 6.5, Mark Gugino 6.5, Rick Ludemann 6, Bob Adams 6, Paul Heyden 6 and Brian Christina 6. Skins were won by Shawn Hennesey (No. 1), Maslach (No. 7). Closest to the pin were: Rick Mazurek (No. 3) and Ludemann (No. 8).

14th Annual Woody Keyser Memorial Open Modified Softball Tournament

The 14th Annual Woody Keyser Memorial Open Modified Softball Tournament will be held June 1 and June 2, in Westfield.

The cost for the 10-man, open-modified teams is $275, with the top three teams winning prize money.

The tournament began in 1999 to honor Woody Keyser, who was a beloved member of the Westfield community, who dedicated his time coaching and sharing his love of the sport with a generation of youngsters.

All proceeds from the tournament will go to the Woody Keyser Memorial Fund. Donations from the fund are made in Woody’s name to local youth baseball and softball leagues.

In addition, the tournament lends its support to the Woody Keyser Memorial Scholarship at Westfield Academy and Central School. Each year, one senior baseball or softball player, who exhibits hard work, dedication and sportsmanship, earns the scholarship.

Brocton-Portland Midget Football Cheerleading Practice and Registration

Practice and registration for the Brocton-Portland Midget Football team will take place on May 13, from 6-7:30 p.m., in the Brocton elementary gym. Practice will be for anyone who is interested in cheering for the 2013 season.

All participants must be nine years old before Dec. 1, 2013, and not 14 before Aug. 1.

There will be a meeting for parents interested in registering their children for football or cheerleading on May 17, from 6-7:30 p.m., in the BCS auditorium.

Vineyards Tuesday Night Men’s League

The Vineyards Tuesday Night Men’s League will begin play Tuesday, May 7 for fun night.

League play will begin Tuesday, May 14.

Interested players of any skill level should contact the Vineyards Golf Course at 672-7888.

Fredonia Girls Basketball Camp

Fredonia Central School will host a girls basketball camp Monday, June 24 to Thursday, June 27 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The cost of the camp is $95 per camper or $80 if paid by June 1. Those who send five or more students from the same school and send in their applications together can deduct $10. It is open to all girls entering grades 3-12.

Each player is expected to arrive between 8:30 and 8:55 a.m. The camp will start promptly at 9 a.m. Athletes are expected to bring their own lunch. There will be cold pop, water and Gatorade for sale at lunch time and at the end of the day. All athletes should have their ride pick them up at 3:30 p.m. All parents are welcome to come to the awards ceremony at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Pitch Meeting

The organizational meeting for all teams interested in participating in the Dunkirk Recreation Men’s Slo Pitch Softball League is scheduled for Thursday, May 9, at 6 p.m.

The meeting will be held in the Second Floor Conference Room at City Hall.

Discussed will be league format, rules, fees and rosters.

All teams should be represented at this meeting. Any teams wishing to participate but are unable to attend this meeting should call the Recreation Office at 366-9885 weekdays.

Van Miller Hometown Hero Scholarship

Golf Tournament

On Friday, June 14, the Van Miller Hometown Hero Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament presented by Lake Shore Savings Bank will once again be held at Shorewood Country Club in Dunkirk.

The fifth annual golf tournament funds a scholarship for two outstanding Dunkirk High School seniors.

The honorary emcee for this year’s event will be former Buffalo Bills player Mark Kelso.

Kelso played his entire eight-year career from 1986-1993 with the Bills and appeared in their four consecutive Super Bowl bids. He currently is a radio broadcaster for Buffalo Bills’ games on WGR 550.

There are many opportunities to support this event.

Fredonia High School softball, baseball parking

Anyone attending Fredonia baseball or softball games at Fredonia High School should not park in the parking lot across from the field on Route 60.

This is a private lot and cars parked there are subject to being towed at the owners’ expense. Spectators for all home baseball and softball games are asked to please park on school property only.

Crouse 5K Challenge

The 14th Annual Crouse 5K Challenge in Gowanda is scheduled for Saturday, May 11. The 5K will begin at 6:30 p.m. while the 1/2 mile fun run will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Tot Sprint will begin at 7:15 p.m.

Proceeds will be used for the Gowanda Central School Dennis Crouse, Sr. Scholarship Fund & the Blue by U … Youth Track Club.

9th Annual Hunt of

a Lifetime Shootout

NSCOPBA and the friends of Allen Wojtkowiak have announced the 9th Annual Shootout to Benefit Hunt of a Lifetime, which helps make dreams come true for children and young adults with life-threatening illnesses.

The event will take place Saturday, May 11 at the Westfield Fish and Game Club.

Shooters will participate in trap, skeet and 5-stand sporting clays. Juniors (10-14) will shoot trap and youths (10-under) will participate in the BB gun shoot. There will be trophies given for top shooters in open, ladies, seniors and juniors. Shooting begins at 9 a.m.

There will be a roast beef dinner from 12-4 and prize raffles throughout the day. The final prize auction will begin at 4 p.m.

The event costs $20 for shooters and $10 for dinner only. Kids 14 and under eat free.

Summer Basketball

The Westfield Summer Basketball League will have two leagues: An A league, which will be a very competitive league, and a B league, which will be a more recreational league.

However, unlike last year, both leagues will be a register your own team league.

The league staff will have final say on which league a particular team enters and priority will be given to teams that have competed in the past.

Games will be played at Westfield Academy and Central School.

In order to play in the league everyone must have appropriate behavior both on the court and on school grounds, respect all of the property at the school and respect the officials and understand that they’re doing their best.

Violation of the above standards will result in removal from the league.

The entry fee is $40 for Westfield residents and $50 for all others.

It is highly recommended teams get sponsors so that it doesn’t cost each person as much to participate. All money goes to league officials to pay the staff that runs the league and also league awards.

1-Ball Wiffle Ball Tournament

to be held June 22

The 1 Ball Wiffle Ball Tournament for Testicular Cancer will be held Saturday, June 22 at Willis Hale Town Park in Frewsburg. Registration will be held at 8:30 a.m. and first pitch is set for 9:30 a.m.

The entry fee is $75 per team and proceeds benefit the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation. Each team is guaranteed three games.

All players must be 21 years of age or older and no team can have more than six players. A home run derby will take place while an award will be given out for best team uniform.

The event is limited to the first 24 teams to pre-register and sponsorship opportunities are also available.

1st Annual Erie 2 BOCES School Wellness Committee Golf Tournament

The first annual Erie 2 BOCES School Wellness Committee Golf Tournament will be held on June 25 at Tri-County Country Club. Anyone interested is asked to pre-register by June 1.

The cost is $75 per golfer, or $300 per foursome. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.

The tournament, which will use a scramble format with a shotgun start at noon, will include 18 holes of golf, lunch at the turn and dinner after the tournament. There will be a cash bar available.

Prizes will be awarded to the winning team, as well as for longest drives closest to the pin on Par 3’s. There will also be a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle.

Gowanda Men’s Softball League

begins May 30

The Gowanda area men’s slow pitch softball league will begin on Thursday, May 30. All games will be played at Hidi Park on Thursday night through August 29.

There are a few openings for out of town and local teams to join the league. Teams are not charged a registration fee and all equipment is provided by Hidi Park.
