Hunt flirts with no-hitter in?Westfield win
WESTFIELD – Westfield’s Nolan Hunt flirted with a no-hitter as he led the Wolverines (7-1, 10-1) to a 13-0 victory over Forestville (3-4) on Monday in CCAA Division 3 high school baseball.
Hunt took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before giving up back-to-back one-out hits to Forestville’s Buck Smith and Mike Priest. Hunt finished the game with 13 strikeouts, two hits and one walk.
“He is a lefty and not walking many guys,” Westfield coach Doug Kaltenbach said. “He is throwing strikes and gets ahead of the count and he is good from there. Everything moves. He has a nice fastball and an offspeed pitch.”
Offensively, Westfield recorded 14 hits, including seven extra base hits.
Hunt was 2 for 4 with a bases-clearing triple and a two-run double to give him five RBIs on the day. Travis Rammelt contributed in the offensive outburst with three hits.
The two teams are back at it today in Forestville.
