Western New York Foundation grant funds new dental operatory at The Resource Center

JAMESTOWN – A grant from the Western New York Foundation will lead to improved oral health for families and children in southern Chautauqua County.

The foundation recently awarded The Resource Center $30,000 to help fund the expansion of TRC’s Jamestown dental office. The grant monies were used to buy dental equipment for the new operatory. The new room will lead to shorter waiting times for appointments and will allow the office to operate more efficiently.

The new operatory also will enable The Resource Center to bring another dentist on board.

“The new operatory has provided us with enough additional space to allow us to hire a new dentist, Dr. Timothy Theisen, who will be joining the practice soon,” Stephen Riczker, TRC’s director of health services, said. “Dr. Theisen is a welcome addition to our team of skilled dental providers, including Dr. Anne Shear and Dr. Douglas Larson.”

“We wish you continued success and hope that this grant will help you to reach and treat more people in need of quality dental healthcare,” Western New York Foundation officials stated in a letter to TRC announcing the grant award. “The Trustees truly appreciate and thank you for the important work that you are doing in and for our community.”

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially unveil the new operatory will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the dental office, located at 896 E. Second St.

The addition of the new operatory is the first phase of a more extensive expansion and integration of The Resource Center’s primary medical, dental and mental health services. The integration of these services is designed to provide greater, more convenient and coordinated access to health care for the community.

The Resource Center’s Jamestown dental office also be adding digital x-ray capabilities that will interface with TRC’s electronic dental record system. The digital x-ray allows easier access of dental records as well as electronic transmittal of information to specialists when necessary. Digital x-rays also significantly reduce a patient’s exposure to radiation.

The Resource Center’s dental services provide general family dentistry in a comfortable environment. Most insurances are accepted, including Medicaid and Medicaid Managed Care. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, with extended hours Tuesdays until 7 p.m.
