Sheehan, Lowe named all conference

Seniors Brian Sheehan and Dillon Lowe were named to the SUNYAC All Conference team on Thursday.

Sheehan was named to the second team. He was the only SUNYAC catcher to catch in all 18 conference games this season while posting a .349 batting average, ninth in the league. He was among the conference leaders in on-base percentage (.482, second), walks (20, second), and hit by pitches (10, fifth). He struck out only seven times.

Sheehan was second on the team with 37 hits and 22 RBI. A three-year starter, he finished his Fredonia State career with a .323 batting average.

Lowe was named to the all-conference squad for the second straight season.

He was a key component in the Devils’ late-season success, ending the season with an eight-game hitting streak. He went 5 for 14 (.357) in the SUNYAC Tournament, including a home run and double. He finished the 2013 season with a .278 batting average while starting 33 of the Devils 35 games. He led the team with 115 at bats.

Lowe batted .358 last season when he was a first-team selection at third base. Lowe cracked the starting lineup near the end of his freshman season and finishes ranked tenth all-time in hits (104) and eighth in stolen bases (21) while posting a .305 career average.
