Silver Creek throttles Lew-Port, 18-5
SILVER CREEK – Silver Creek (11-2) played through unfavorable weather Friday, but still came away with a convincing, 18-5, win over visiting Lewiston-Porter during Class C boys’ lacrosse action.
“Anything can happen when you get these types of weather conditions,” Silver Creek head coach Bill Brennan said. “But they went out and played hard. They executed the offense and the defense did what it was supposed to do.”
The Black Knights solid defensive effort led to a good transitional offense as Brennan White scored a team-high four goals while Kaine Kettle and Frank Thompson each scored three goals.
“I got to work in some subs and Frank (Thompson) impressed me,” Brennan said. “He had three goals, so I think I’m going to plug him in some more.”
The Black Knights can clinch the Class C league title on Tuesday with a win over Wilson. They will take on Class B’s Niagara-Wheatfield today at 1 p.m.
“I like playing the larger schools,” Brennan said. “You get (a good) caliber (of competition) and I think it prepares us for the playoffs. Our division is tough and I think a lot of Class B teams don’t want to play Class C teams. You just can’t sleep on any of us.”
