Local churches unite to celebrate Day of Pentecost

The entire community is welcome to join in worship and time of fellowship on Sunday, May 19 at Point Gratiot Park at 11 a.m. Together, the members of First United Presbyterian Church (Dunkirk), Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church (Dunkirk) and St. John’s United Church of Christ (Dunkirk) join to celebrate the Day of Pentecost with worship and Holy Communion. All who attend are invited to bring a dish to pass for the time of fellowship following worship.

Pentecost in the Christian Church is the celebration of the Holy Spirit, sent by God, descending upon the original 12 apostles of Jesus Christ and upon all Christ’s followers. The service will be led by Pastors Cheni Khonje, Trevor Hahn and Tom Lawton, as well as by all the talented musicians of each congregation including Dr. Ji Hyun Woo, Ann Rose, David Rose and Arthur Lewis.

In the true spirit of Pentecost, the Church united as one in Christ, the celebration of Holy Communion will be open to all ages and all who wish to share in communion. Worship and fellowship will be held rain or shine at the large pavilion of Point Gratiot.
