RTPI to host opening for art exhibition

JAMESTOWN – On Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m., the Roger Tory Peterson Institute invites the public to a reception to open a new, major exhibition, America’s Parks Through The Beauty Of Art. The opening reception is free and open to the public; donations are appreciated.

RTPI will proudly host America’s Parks Through The Beauty Of Art through July 28. It is an outstanding juried exhibition featuring over 50 original works depicting scenes in parks of all kinds in the United States as well as Canada and Mexico. This exhibition is an artistic tribute to parks (national, state, provincial, county, city) by a range of talented artists working today. Awards include an America’s Parks Curator’s Choice Award, Society of Animal Artists Wildlife Art Award, Susan Kathleen Black Foundation Floral Art Award, and Juror’s Choice Awards from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, PleinAir Magazine, and Wildlife Art Journal. This must-see exhibition continues RTPI’s tradition of offering world class nature art for public education and enjoyment.

RTPI also is showing an incredible display of fossils including a Columbian Mammoth excavated in Randolph and additional art from the life work of Roger Tory Peterson. The Institute is located at 311 Curtis St. in Jamestown and is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays, 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, call 665-2473 or visit www.rtpi.org.
