Chautauqua-Lake Erie Art Trail celebrates its fifth year
The North Shore Arts Alliance presents its award winning, signature event, the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Art Trail, two weekends: May 25-26 and June 1-2. Eighteen participating artists will open their studios to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Celebrating its fifth year, this free open studio art tour offers the public an opportunity to visit the personal work spaces of northern Chautauqua County’s leading artists. The trail extends along the Lake Erie shoreline, from Ripley to Dunkirk, and moves inland to include artists’ studios in Fredonia, Mayville, Chautauqua Institution, Brocton, Portland and Forestville.
This four-day event gives everyone from art lovers to casual sightseers even more opportunities to experience the area’s professional artists, and to enjoy northern Chautauqua County’s numerous other amenities. Along the trail, visitors will encounter six art galleries, two lighthouses, numerous dining establishments, bed and breakfasts and wineries open for tastings.
Participating artists, many of whom are multiple award winners, enjoy the opportunity to display their art where it is created. The atmosphere in the studios is relaxed and the conversations are lively, giving visitors the chance to talk with artists about what inspires them. The Art Trail is a traveling feast of amazing talent and beauty in a wide variety of disciplines such as: sculpture, photography, ceramics, painting, jewelry, wood working, fiber arts and mixed media.
“My husband and I have enjoyed the Art Trail since its beginning,” says Jennifer Koss, former president of the North Shore Arts Alliance. “The Art Trail is an event we look forward to every Memorial Day Weekend. Having an event where people can visit the personal studios of talented, local artists and see their latest work is a fantastic and special opportunity for the public.”
All art work on display during the weekend is available for sale.
