Ronald G. Hite

Ronald G. Hite, 81, of 4577 Baker St. Ext., Lakewood, died at 5:45 a.m. Friday (May 17, 2013) in his home.

He was born Feb. 29, 1932 in Rochester, N.Y., the son of Ross and Agnes Moran Hite.

A 1953 graduate of Canisius College, he was also a graduate of Georgetown University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate degree in 1956.

Before retiring in 2002, he had been an attorney in private practice in Jamestown for many years.

He was a member of Holy Apostles Parish, St. Peter and Paul Church, where he sang in the choir for 48 years. He was a longtime member of the Jamestown YMCA, a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, and the Jamestown and Northern Chautauqua Bar Associations.

Always one who embraced life, Ron was quick-witted, and enjoyed conversation, dancing, telling stories, jokes, puns, and making up limericks. Education being of great importance, he had a life-long interest in learn-ing, and was self-taught in Spanish. He was proud of his Irish heritage, enjoyed celebrating his leap year birthday, and would look for any reason to have a party. He loved having his family together, and took great pride in his children’s accomplishments. An avid swimmer, he loved to swim in any waters he could find, no matter what the tem-perature.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret “Peg” Guertin Hite, whom he married Nov. 17, 1975; his children, Gregory D. (Ivana) Hite and Gwyn M. Hite, both of Fredonia, Thomas L. (Brenda) Hite of Akron, Ohio, Laura R. (Tim) Scheid of Minneapolis, Minn., Elizabeth (Mark) Burgeson of Panama, N.Y., Kristopher C. (Elizabeth Philbrick) of Atlanta, Ga., and Kathleen M. (Nick) Sard of Newport, Ore.; 14 grandchildren: Jared (Amanda) Hite, Alisha Hite, Brandon Hite, Lindsey Trautman, Lucas Trautman, Charlie Hite, Matthew Hite, Caroline Scheid, Emily Scheid, Ingrid Scheid, Oliver Burgeson, Lily Burgeson, Jennifer Joy (Joelle) Owczarek, and Joshua (Kim) Hite; six great grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his former wife, Joyce Hogle Hite of Fredonia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: Geoffrey N. and Gary M. Hite; a grandson, Jason G. Hite; twin great granddaughters: Jaylyn and Olivia Hite; and two brothers: James M. and Robert A. Hite.
