Veterans invited for city services

Editor, OBSERVER:

The Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council welcomes all local veterans to join us in this year’s Memorial Day 2013 Services and Parade. We are extending an invitation to our local Veterans to participate in the Memorial Day Services and Parade. The purpose of the Services and Parade on Monday, May 27, 2013 is to pay tribute to our deceased veterans and those still missing; also to those veterans who are still serving our nation so that we may have our freedom.

The Memorial Day Services will commence at 10 a.m. in Memorial Park on Lake Shore Drive West.

The Memorial Day Parade will begin at approximately 11 a.m.

For all veterans who are able to walk, Mr. Butch Piglowski, commander American Legion Post 62, has recommended one combined unit/honor guard, to be referred as “All Veterans Honor Guard” to lead our 1st Division.

All veterans unable to walk and wishing to participate, transportation will be provided by CARTS during the parade and returning them to Memorial Park at the completion of the parade.

Please join us to make Memorial Day 2013 a most memorable event.

If you are able to join us, please contact Leonard Catalano, DJVC Special Affairs Officer at 366-3941. He will need your full name and phone number.

Please specify if you can walk the parade route in our all Veterans Honor Guard or need to be driven in provided transportation.

Every veterans organization is working with us to support this event.

Thank you for your support and may God Bless America and keep our nation free and safe.

JACK SIEVERT,

commander,

Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council
