Art studio to hold

competition Saturday

Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m., the Eric Johnson Art Studio, 483 Mechanic St., Irving, will host an art competition and display the work of local high school students. Participating art-ists are from Dunkirk, Fre-donia, Silver Creek, Cassa-daga and Forestville. The studio is dedicated to the advancement of fine art through ongoing education and recognition of artists of all abilities.

Pine Valley to host UPK Roundup on June 6

The Pine Valley Central School will host Universal Pre-Kindergarten Roundup for children who will enter UPK in the fall of 2013 on June 6. Notices have been sent to the parents and children. If you have a child who will be four years old on or before Dec. 1 and have not received notification, contact Mrs. Nichols at the Elementary Office at 988-3291 ext. 3306.

Rabies clinic today

The Chautauqua County Department of Health will offer a rabies immunization clinic today from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Brocton Fire Hall at 80 Lake Ave., Brocton with Dr. Mark McConnon. It is sponsored by the Town of Portland.

Jim Powers to appear on Senior Report

Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Jim Powers as the guest on Saturday’s television program. Powers’ topic is Cooking for One. The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday mornings. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for some communities.

The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to a featured guest.

Senior Report is shown live Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering Brocton, Cassa-daga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forestville, Han-over, Irving, Jamestown, Lakewood and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19. The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.
