NYSUT leads activists to Rally in Albany
Members of New York State United Teachers, other coalition members, parents, students, and community members are invited to join a unique group of community, faith, and labor organizations to march in Albany on June 8 as part of the “One Voice United” rally. The hope is that many Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany county residents will travel together via bus to march in solidarity and voice our collective concern about major issues affecting our student’s future. “One Voice United” is the theme of this important rally.
The One Voice United march will address state leaders with issues such as ending the over-reliance on expensive corporate developed tests, demanding fair and equitable funding for our schools, protecting the safety of students and staff, restoring local control of our public school, and fixing the tax cap, to name a few.
NYSUT is organizing buses to transport NYSUT members and other union and community group members to Albany for the rally. Seating on these buses is on a first-come, first-serve basis. More information and registration information may be found at www.nysut.org. Follow the link titled “One Voice United”. For more details about the rally and the buses, have your organization contact NYSUT’s Southwestern New York Regional Office (Jamestown) at 664-7425.
